Q. Is University of Honolulu accredited?

A. Yes University of Honolulu is accredited in the United States through International Accreditation for Universities, Colleges and Institutes known as IAUCI and Accreditation for Higher Education (ACHE) it is a statutory body currently under the portfolio of the Minister of Education and Culture.

 

Q. Whether Transfer of Credit is given to our students by other leading Institutions around the world?

A. We have agreements with most institutions around the world but we also have Arrangements with others. UH represent and enroll many students each year for many institutions around the world that are located in our link "International Network." It is up to the discretion of each institution to determine the transfer of credit.

 

Q. Are University of Honolulu degrees recognized by other countries or other universities?

A. Employers in most countries around the world recognize and accept University of Honolulu degrees. However, foreign governments are under no obligation to declare recognition of any University degrees including of Honolulu degrees. Each university has its own policy concerning the recognition of credits earned at other universities. To determine recognition by other universities students should contact UH for all matters related to credit transfer as UH handles all matters with high priority for all its students in regards to credit transfer to other countries.

 

Q. Does University of Honolulu offers credit for professional career experience?

A. University of Honolulu may grant transfer credit for significant nonacademic professional achievements such as published writings, major work projects, awards, titles, honors, professional licenses, appropriate professional training, etc. Such credit is determined using guidelines suggested by the Council for Adult Experiential Learning and the American Council on Education.

 

Q. Does University of Honolulu offers distance learning programs and on-campus programs?

A. Yes, University of Honolulu offers both distance learning and on-campus programs.

 

Q. What are the requirements for international applicants to enroll on-campus?

A. Applicants wishing to apply for on-campus study should contact the Registrar by E-mail to: registrar@uofh.us. The Registrar will explain the requirements for on-campus enrollment and can assist you by evaluating your qualifications for admission to the campus program near to you.

 

Q. How can we get credit transfer to other Institutions?

A. Student must complete an application form by requesting UH for admission into foreign institute. University of Honolulu will then start the credit transfer and admission process on behalf of the student. All credit transfer is up to each institute’s discretion to decide and it is not up to UH to decide. However University of Honolulu will do its best to assist all students who wish to go overseas for further studies. If student tries to apply for credit transfer for on his or her own they may not get proper credit some times. It is therefore advisable that all students contact University of Honolulu prior to taking any admission in any foreign institutions.

 

Q. Does University of Honolulu accepts credits earned at other universities? If so how many?

A. Yes, it is possible to transfer credits earned at other recognized educational institutions. Only courses in which you have earned at least a grade of "passed" or a C grade or better (2.0 on a 4.0 scale) will be accepted. The number of credits accepted varies with the student's degree program on case-by-case basis.

 

Q. When can one start a University of Honolulu educational program?

A. There are no fixed start dates for distance learning programs. You may start immediately upon acceptance for enrollment and payment of fees.

 

Q. How is the distance-learning program administered?

A. The student selects a specific curriculum to follow. The books and study materials are provided by the university and included in the cost of the program. The curriculum is comprised of a series of individual courses, which earn a specified number of semester credit hours. Most courses consist of ten modules. After completing each course, the student will submit the examination, research paper or project for that course for evaluation. When the appropriate number of credit hours has been earned, and all fees have been paid, the student is awarded his or her degree.

 

Q. How does University of Honolulu’s evaluation system work? Do I need to travel to my final exams?

A. The performance appraisal for the different courses in your academic program varies. Some courses require case studies or reviews of related articles found in recent periodic literature, while other courses require you to complete an examination, a special project or a research paper. You will not be required to take any exams in USA. The course evaluation system does not require you to travel. You may complete most examinations in your own home country at an affiliated authorized center.

 

Q. What type of testing must I take to be accepted for admission to University of Honolulu?

A. Students do not have to take any test, such as TOEFL or GMAT, to be accepted for admission to any of University of Honolulu's Programs. Unless he or she wish to have credit transfer to other universities for further studies.

 

Q. What is the duration of the distance learning programs?

A. The distance learning programs are conducted at the student's individual pace, but must not exceed a defined time period associated with a specific program without prior permission from the Admissions Committee. It may take from 6 months to one year to complete an Diploma program, two (2) to four (4) years to complete a bachelor degree program, and one (1) to two (2) years to complete a master degree program, two (2) to three (3) years for doctoral degree programs and one to two years for post doctoral programs.

 

Q. Does University of Honolulu offers financial assistance to international and domestic students enrolled in their programs?

A. University of Honolulu offers both international and domestic distance learning student’s convenient monthly installment plans to match their budget. Students who pay in full at the beginning of their program receive a tuition discount.

 

Q. What is the language of instruction at University of Honolulu?

A. The on-campus programs in the UK and the distance learning programs are generally delivered in English using English language textbooks. Under certain circumstances, courses may be completed in other languages convenient to both the student and the supervising professor.

 

Q. Can a student take University of Honolulu programs in a foreign language?

A. Students wishing to study in a language other than English must gain approval from an approved Supervising Professor. The student and professor may then work together in the selected language.

 

Q. Does University of Honolulu issues academic transcripts?

A. Yes, University of Honolulu issues official academic transcripts after the student successfully completes all his or her courses. Records of academic progress are also kept, and interim transcripts may be issued to the student following completion of course work for any semester.

 

Q. Is the term "distance learning” is printed the student’s transcripts?

A. No, the term "distance learning" will not be mentioned or printed in either the student’s transcripts or diploma. Diplomas earned through distance learning and the on-campus is exactly the same.

 

Q. Does University of Honolulu notarizes its diplomas? Can I have an attested attached?

A. University of Honolulu will attach an attested or have its diplomas notarized when specific requests by the student. University will arrange for the notary attestation.

 

Q. Who are the faculty of University of Honolulu?

A. The university faculty consists of a wide variety of adjunct professors from reputed universities as well as University of Honolulu's own professors. All professors have established credentials as teachers and have been selected for their range of both practical and academic experience with a minimum qualification of doctorate in their field.

 

Q. How do international distance learning student’s pay their application and tuition fees?

A. Both the application and tuition fee can be paid by Demand Draft, money order, or wire transfer.

 

Q. Do international students need to send official transcripts and diplomas earned at other educational institutions?

A. Yes. All applicants for admission to University of Honolulu should request that official transcripts, translated into English, be sent directly to University of Honolulu from the educational institution from which they earned their diplomas. The student must submit copies of all diplomas they have earned. These documents enable the Academic Committee to approve enrollment in programs and to assign transfer credit for previous academic achievements. If the educational institution cannot send official transcripts or diplomas, the student may submit photocopies of transcripts and degrees certified by a school official or attested by an appropriate government official.

 

Q. Can I earn more than one degree from University of Honolulu?

A. Certainly, in fact, a student could begin by earning an associate degree, then progress to the bachelor, master and doctorate degrees to reach his or her educational goals. University of Honolulu exists to help you reach your full potential and achieve your academic goals. We pledge to make your educational experience as efficient and rewarding as possible.

 

Q. Can I earn a University of Honolulu diploma by attending any of University of Honolulu’s affiliated campuses?

A. Yes, provided all required documentation is submitted, all fees are paid and the requisite curriculum is satisfactorily completed.

 

Q. Does University of Honolulu has other campuses?

A. Yes, University of Honolulu has affiliated centers in most of the countries. Please verify with the list of affiliated partners &agents.

 

Q. How do students communicate with faculty and staff at University of Honolulu?

A. Faculty and staff are available to assist students with their programs, advise about courses and curriculum and to help the students succeed. Communication may be accomplished in a number of ways, by email, phone and fax.

 

Q. Do I choose my courses on my own?

A. We strongly advice you to select courses which are compatible with your occupational and professional objectives. You should relate your course of study to your career path. This way, your course is directly applicable to your work, and will help you refine and build on your previous knowledge and experience. After you enroll, you will be sent course syllabus, model question papers for each course selected.

 

Q. How do I get my textbooks?

A. Textbook selections are periodically reviewed for each course in order to provide you with the latest on the course subject. When you register for the course, necessary list of books will be sent to your address.

 

Q. What do I do if I need help in my course of work?

A. In distance study, you will be expected to do your course of work by yourself. If you need help to understand academic concepts and theories, you are encouraged to consult with our faculty member in UH. Your advisor in UH will forward your query to the appropriate faculty member whenever you need tutorial assistance. You can either phone or send your question by letter or e-mail to UH office, and we will try our best to answer you back as quickly as possible.

 

Q. If I change my country of residence, will it affect my studies?

A. No, we will help you wherever you transfer.

 

Q What is the payment plans available?

There are two payment plans available:

Plan A

In installment plan, Fees has to be paid at the beginning of every semester.

Plan B

If you pay total fees in full at the time of admission which will carry a 15% reduction on installment plan fees once paid in full or in part for a course the fee will not be refunded under any circumstances.
